Over the years I have assisted with many non-profit events in the Tampa Bay Community and they all have been very touching but I recently had the honor of planning and coordinating the 3rd Annual Breaking Free Gala on April 8th at TPepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa. Breaking Free is about men, women and children who have “Broken Free” from domestic violence. The event is Visions of Hope International‘s latest fundraiser of the year. The evening started with a silent auction featuring unique items such as beer tasting flight from Brew Bus and a live painting by Mark Anthony. Guests then entered the ballroom and were welcomed by the evening’s Emcees: Cyndi Edwards and her husband Colin. One of the main highlights of the evening was the fashion show which featured survivors of all ages. There was a tribute to the 2016 honorary model Anne Marie, who is a survivor enduring another battle: cancer. Brenda Clubine was this year’s guest speaker and there was not a dry eye in the crowd when she told about her experience. A unique fundraising tactic and mouthwatering experience was the Live Dessert Auction, featuring cakes from Tampa Bay’s best chefs.
It was a memorable evening with many touching moments while raising awareness of domestic violence in our community.
